The Uganda Energy Policy emphasizes development of new areas such as clean energy for transport that will aid an energy transition towards a low carbon path. Electric mobility is part of the overall country plan to green the transport sector. It is also part of the country’s National Determined Contribution (NDC) aimed at reducing emissions.
To fully achieve greening the transport sector and reduce emissions, this requires a framework that is able to accurately measure, report and verify emissions. This will not only enable assessment of the contribution of each transport mode including the 2 & 3 wheelers, but also attract adequate green financing to the E-mobility industry.
In this respect, a stakeholder workshop on e-mobility has been organized. The workshop aims at achieving two broad objectives;
1) To review of the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) tool for Uganda and propose recommendations to include e-mobility, particularly the 2&3 electric wheelers,
2) Further improve information and public awareness on e-mobility to accelerate the uptake.
The workshop which will take place on Tuesday 31st October 2023 at Serena Hotel, Kampala, Uganda will be attended by policy makers, researchers, industry players and stakeholders.
